Lynchburg sheriff to retire at month’s end, earlier than planned

Lynchburg Sheriff Ronald Gillispie has announced he’ll retire at the end of March, nine months earlier than originally planned, leaving one candidate for the office to fill his shoes until the election.

“After a 46 year Law Enforcement career, I have decided to retire and spend time with my family and assist with the health needs of my aging father,” he wrote in a news release….
